My name is Sasha Piltsin, I’m a Russian and Ukrainian dialect coach for Film & TV. I am currently involved in productions shooting in Canada, US and EU. I’m known for my work as Russian dialect coach on TV shows: "Supergirl", “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”, "The Flash", "Siren", "The Twilight Zone", "The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco" and others.

My effectiveness as a dialect coach on set today is due to my long gained knowledge and experience in translation and teaching but most of all, my ability to make it clear and simple. I combine Russian syllables into easily pronounceable units based on my natural feel for both languages. It allows the actor to remember their lines easier and feel and sound more natural, which is one of the most important factors when performing in a foreign language. Often, actors prefer to memorize the foreign lines mostly by sound, musical memory. Slavic languages like Russian and Ukrainian are alien to the Western ear and tongue. Don’t let the unusual raspy Russian sounds frighten you. I have a fun set of tools and exercises that will easy you into the language.

A film set is a very busy place and all kinds of changes in dialogue happen on the fly. Being an actor myself, I have an innate sense of the appropriate moment to step in and make the right decisions quickly.

I teach actors how to speak Russian and how to speak English with a Russian accent. If you have an audition for a Russian character, I can make you sound Russian by explaining and teaching you the keys to the Russian accent.

The Russian language belongs to the Slavic group of languages, and has a unique and very distinct accent, tone and pitch even among it’s neighboring languages. With my technique you’ll be able to sound Russian for your audition and to apply your gained skill and knowledge to your future auditions as well.
